ATKV Resorts invests in young rugby talent at North-South tournament

The annual NMI Toyota North-South rugby tournament this year once again proved why it is regarded as one of the highlights of the school rugby calendar. The 12th edition of this popular tournament took place at the Afrikaanse Hoër Seunskool in Pretoria from 27 to 31 March, and brought together some of the country’s top young rugby talent.

ATKV Resorts was proud to once again act as a sponsor of the tournament, thereby reinforcing its commitment to the development of young sportspeople. This involvement is not only an investment in sport, but in the future of South Africa’s youth.

A tournament that keeps growing

Since the first North-South tournament in 2014 – when only four matches were played – the competition has grown impressively. This year, dozens of schools from across the country participated, with 44 schools having showcased their first teams on this stage over the years.

The 2026 tournament also welcomed new teams, while traditional rugby powerhouses such as Paarl Gimnasium, Grey College and Hoërskool Garsfontein once again demonstrated their strength.

Highlights and winners

As always, the tournament delivered exciting rugby, with matchups that kept spectators on the edge of their seats. According to official tournament information, Hoërskool Garsfontein stood out as the team of the tournament, with their player Ruan Fluks being named player of the tournament.

Individual standouts also made their mark, with players from schools such as Paarl Gimnasium and Grey College receiving top honours.

Although there is no single “tournament winner” in a traditional knockout format, these recognitions serve as an indication of the teams and players who truly excelled during the week.
